A Nice Little Walk

It feels like Fall is arriving, and that makes it very pleasant to walk around outdoors. I only wish that this time of year would last longer before the time changes and it begins to get dark as soon as I get off work in the evenings.

Begonias for Sale.

Next weekend is the historic cemetery’s annual Fall plant sale, and this is just one of the begonias I have been looking at on their front porch, that is for sale. If I get to the sale early enough, I think I’ll find some interesting indoor plants for my office. I could buy this one, or something like it, right now. But I know nothing about growing begonias indoors. It’s pretty. I’ll have to think about this.

Cannas.

Despite these fascinating seedheads and the apparent fact that butterflies are attracted to canna lily seeds, I am going to try to refrain from buying any cannas if they offer them. Cannas are notorious for being Japanese-beetle magnets, and at this time I have no Japanese beetles in my yard or garden. Why invite trouble?

Misplaced Trees.

This cute little baby oak tree is growing in the wrong place. I left her there.

Yellow Zinnias.

I was on the verge of sending off more money than I should have even thought of spending for a packet of very few yellow cosmos seeds, after being intrigued by photos of them on someone else’s site. But these pale yellow zinnias really have a remarkably similar effect. . . I think I can be satisfied with what is already growing here in my own neighborhood.

Goat Van.

This sweet camper van gave me such a big smile! And makes me want to travel this way myself, someday!
